How the Custom Design Process Works
Creating a custom flower girl dress is a collaborative process. Here's what to expect:
Step 1: Initial Consultation
The initial consultation can be done in-person at our Sydney showroom or via video call for interstate clients. Bring photos of your bridal gown, bridesmaids' dresses, and any inspiration images that capture the look you're going for. We'll discuss your vision and talk through colours, fabrics, silhouettes, and any specific details you have in mind.
Step 2: Design Development
We’ll show you different fabric options, existing designs that can be customised, and discuss what's possible within your timeline and budget. If you're starting from scratch, we'll create initial sketches based on your brief. If you're customising an existing design, we'll discuss which elements to modify (neckline, sleeves, length, embellishments, colour).
Step 3: Measurements & Finalisation
We'll take precise measurements of your flower girl to ensure a perfect fit. You'll approve the final design, fabric choices, and any custom details. At this stage, we'll confirm the timeline and pricing, and a 50% deposit is required to begin production.
Step 4: Creation
Your dress is handmade to order. Depending on complexity, this takes approximately 12 weeks. If you're local to Sydney, you will be called in to pick up upon completion. For interstate or overseas clients, we will contact you with updates regularly on the progress of your dress. Depending on the complexity of the design some photos may be forwarded to ensure you're satisfied with the progress.
Step 5: Final Delivery
Your custom dress is completed, quality-checked, and ready for collection or shipping. Shipping is complimentary Australia wide. Overseas shipping charges will be calculated and agreed at time of quotation.
What Can Be Customised?

Fabric
Choose from premium satin, mikado, tulle, organza, lace, or chiffon. We source high-quality fabrics specifically for how they photograph and how comfortable they are for children to wear.
Colour
Match your bridesmaids exactly, choose a complementary shade, or go with classic ivory or white. We can dye fabrics to match swatches or photos you provide.
Silhouette & Length
A-line, ballgown, empire waist, tea-length, floor-length, or hi-low hem — whatever suits your wedding style and the flower girl's age.
Neckline & Sleeves
Cap sleeves, long sleeves, puff sleeves, spaghetti straps, halter neck, off-the-shoulder, high neck — any neckline or sleeve style that complements your bridal aesthetic.
Details & Embellishments
Sashes, bows, lace overlays, beading, floral appliqués, hand-sewn pearls, buttons down the back — we can add details that mirror your bridal gown or bridesmaids' dresses.
Fit & Sizing
Custom measurements mean the dress fits perfectly, with no awkward gaps, tight spots, or need for major alterations. This is especially valuable for older flower girls (8+), very young toddlers, or children who fall between standard sizing.
How Long Does a Custom Dress Take?
Plan for approximately 12 weeks from initial consultation to final delivery. This includes design development, fabric sourcing, production, and any fittings or adjustments.
If your wedding is less than 12 weeks away, contact us as soon as possible. Depending on our current workload and the complexity of the design, we may be able to accommodate a faster timeline — but this isn't guaranteed, and rush fees may apply.
For the best experience and to avoid stress, start the custom process 4–6 months before your wedding. This gives you time to explore options, make thoughtful decisions, and schedule fittings without feeling rushed.
What Does a Custom Dress Cost?
Custom flower girl dresses start from $450, depending on fabric choice, design complexity, and any special details or embellishments. A simple custom dress in satin or tulle with minimal detail will sit at the lower end of the range. A more elaborate gown with lace overlays, hand-sewn beading, or intricate construction will be priced higher.
During your initial consultation, we will provide a clear quote based on your specific design. There are no hidden costs — the price you're quoted is the price you pay (unless you request additional changes after production has started).
A 50% deposit is required to begin work on your custom dress. The remaining balance is due upon completion, before the dress is collected or shipped.
Custom vs Ready-Made: Which Should You Choose?
If one of our ready-made designs already fits your vision, your timeline, and your flower girl's measurements — and you're happy with it as-is — there's no need to go custom. Our showroom has over 300 gowns in a range of styles, fabrics, and colours, and many brides find exactly what they need without customisation.

Yes. While an in-person consultation at our Sydney showroom is ideal, we work with brides across Australia and internationally via video consultation. We'll guide you through fabric selection using photos and swatches sent by post if needed, and we'll provide detailed measurement instructions to ensure accurate sizing.
Shipping is available Australia-wide and internationally. Once your dress is complete, we'll arrange secure, insured delivery to your location.
